Get the supports. It's not alot of $$$ for some piece of mind.
Think about it, 50 bucks or let my bags rub the chrome plate off the belt guard. While I'm riding I want to think "I wonder if my bags are rubbing anything now, hum".
They sell em for a reason. Get a pair and forget about it.
Next. Two Savages. Both with yolk over the regulator. Many miles. Hot and cold. Never a problem.
